How Things Have Changed Makes me Happy!

As I gather with family or interact with people in general, I am sometimes amazed by the racist, ethnocentrist, and sexist remarks I sometimes hear.
But, then I remind myself of how far we, in the United States, have come in the fight for civil rights. It makes me happy to know that there has been progress; that there are more people out there who have the strength to point out intolerable talk. It makes me even more happy to think of how there are generations of people who take it upon themselves to battle oppression and to promote harmony and equality.
